“Children are not the people of tomorrow, but are people of today. They have a right to be taken seriously, and to be treated with tenderness and respect. They should be allowed to grow into whoever they were meant to be. ‘The unknown person’ inside of them is our hope for the future.”
Janusz Korczak
Ready, Steady, Move is taught by example, the children watch the teachers and copy their movements using their eyes and ears to learn.
Even though we have videos and DVDs of the movements, it is the teachers themselves who teach the children how to perform these movements using their own bodies by being personal examples.
This is also true when teaching empathy, respect and love – the core qualities needed to workwith any children – by showing love our teachers teach love.
Our teachers need to be special. They need to be able to keep children excited and engaged throughout the lesson while understanding the necessity for clear boundaries. Ready, Steady, Move lessons are dynamic and exciting however they still have a framework, albeit more expansive than a normal lesson, but a framework nevertheless.
In order to teach this programme you need to be aware of the boundaries while encouraging the children to move more, act more and express more.
You don’t need to be a movement professional to teach the programmes, although a background in sports definitely helps, because our teachers go through extensive and ongoing training that improves their fitness and flexibility.
As these courses progresses our teachers not only teach yoga and Pilates, they learn it too, becoming more adept movement teachers at the same time as improving their own overall fitness.
All our teachers must have a bachelor’s degree in Sports Education or English Language or a related field and be fluent in spoken English.
A valid teaching certificate is often required in many countries as a pre-requisite for entering their educational system. The teachers must also successfully complete the Ready, Steady, Move, Blue training course in order to start teaching any of the programme in the Ready, Steady, Move family.
Ready, Steady, Move, Blue and Orange are also translated into German, French, Spanish, Hebrew, Russian and Mandarin. In order to teach these languages the teacher must have the same valid credentials as for teaching English and have fluent English in order to attend the teacher training course.
The Ready, Steady, Move, Blue training course is the first step in becoming an expert teacher. Further courses expand the teacher’s theoretical understanding of the programmes while providing hands on experience with our innovative methodology and learning materials. These materials are available through the Helen Doron online network that includes a streaming application and a unique information system that provides all the teaching materials needed to become a successful teacher.
